Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that usually affects the face. The major symptoms of rosacea are facial flushing, redness, irritated skin, visible blood vessels, and red swollen bumps. Rosacea most commonly affects middle-aged women with fair skin. It can be mistaken for acne or other skin conditions. The cause of rosacea is unknown, but it could be because of a combination of hereditary and environmental factors. Sunlight, hairspray, heat, stress, alcohol, and spicy foods are common rosacea triggers. The condition is also known to cause puffy eyes, and an enlarged red bulbous nose.
