Rejuvenize Peel™ is the strongest SkinMedica® offers limited to certain skin types. It is appropriate for moderate-to-severe skin imperfections. The Peeling Solution contains Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Resorcinol, Panthenol, and Isoceteth-20. This solution combined with a Retinol Solution can substantially improve results. It leads to deep peeling stimulating collagen production, leaving the new skin surface looking firmer and thicker. Rejuvenize Peel™ helps balance pigmentation, clears acne and smooths skin texture. It is the ideal peel for treating moderate to severe age-related line and wrinkles, sun damage, pigment changes related to certain skin conditions, and even mild acne scars. Visible improvements are achieved with one treatment. However, for optimal results you should receive a series of treatments.
After treatment of Rejuvenize Peel™, the treated skin will be tight, red, and swollen. It is possible to have some mild swelling around the eyes. You should expect some amount of discomfort and stinging. Your doctor might apply a protective ointment such as petroleum jelly to soothe the area and prevent dryness. Immediately following the treatment, your skin will feel tacky and have an orangish hue. This discoloration is short-lived and will fade in a few hours. The skin tightness lasts until the peeling starts. This usually begins within 48-72 hours and can last for up to two to five days. It is important that you do not pick or pull the peeling skin. Premature peeling can cause cracked, raw skin that may develop post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The new skin completely recovers in about two weeks and restarting your usual skin cares should be timed appropriately. We recommend you apply a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily for at least two weeks and avoid direct sunlight for at least one week. You might prefer to remain at home while you’re healing from a chemical peeI. It is also essential to avoid any other skin procedures until the skin heals.
Use of ice packs and over-the-counter pain-relieving medication, such as ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin®) and naproxen sodium (Aleve and others) may help reduce any discomfort. You’ll schedule a checkup soon after your treatment so that Dr. Albright can monitor you healing.
