When we eat fat, our body uses the processed fat (or lipids) for energy. Excess lipids are stored in our fat cells, which makes them grow.

What is CoolSculpting® Technology?

CoolSculpting® is a revolutionary FDA approved treatment that permanently eliminates fat without surgery or downtime. Also known as cryolipolysis, it freezes fat until cell death. CoolSculpting® technology brings fat cells to a precise temperature that will cause them to freeze and die without damaging cells of the surrounding tissue. Once that happens, the body naturally eliminates the dead cells over a one to three-month period or more.

How do I decide if CoolSculpting® is for me?

CoolSculpting® is a safe and effective treatment used for both men and women to reduce stubborn and excess fat that has been resistant to diet and exercise. It results in a permanent 25% reduction of fat in the treated area. Many clients lose several inches from the treated area, which allows for targeted body contouring. It is not a weight loss treatment for obesity. CoolSculpting® patients should be near their ideal body weight. 

CoolSculpting® is not meant for everyone. There are some medical conditions that make a client unsuited for CoolSculpting® including cryoglobulinemia, paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, pregnancy, and others. Dr. Albright and her team at Elysian Beauty and Wellness will conduct a medical screen at your consultation to be certain that CoolSculpting® is safe and effective for you.

What areas can I have treated with CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® has been FDA cleared for treatment of visible fat bulges in the following areas:

What can I expect during a CoolSculpting® treatment?

The technician will position the CoolSculpting® device over the treatment area. Once activated, it pulls the fat bulge into an oval applicator which then applies exact cooling. Some treatment areas require a flat cooling panel to be pressed up against the skin because pulling of the tissue is not possible. Depending on the area, cooling treatments run 35-75 minutes and there may be one to four treatments done during a single session depending on your individual goals. For the first 5 minutes of treatment, you will feel coldness, mild stinging, and numbness. Because there is minimal discomfort, there is no need for pain medication or anesthesia. Once the CoolSculpting® applicator is removed, your doctor will massage the area until the temperature of the area normalizes. Clients can relax during the treatments and enjoy the entertainment of their choice.

What can I expect after my CoolSculpting® treatment? 

You can go back to your normal daily activities immediately after treatment. You may have continued numbness, stinging, redness, swelling, and even mild bruising of the area. These symptoms are temporary and resolved within a few days or weeks. Most patients first see results in one to three months after the treatment, and many have continued results up to six months. 

After the CoolSculpting® treatment, your target fat in the treated areas is removed for good. However, if you have a significant weight gain, the remaining fat cells in other parts of the body will expand. The treated areas will remain smaller, but these other areas will become larger. For this reason, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important. 

How much does it cost?

A single treatment (cycle) of CoolSculpting® costs $750 although most client purchase a package of treatments to achieve their goals. Package discounts start at 4 cycles and the discount increases with the number of cycles purchased. CoolSculpting® and CoolTone® packages are available.
